By mixing paint and catalysts I recreate the push-pull forces
found in nature that shape and mold all things,
to create satellite views of this planet and places
scattered throughout the universe.

These are abstracts waiting to be called realistic, when technology "catches up".

"A Brief Moment in Time",  2001, 48" x 36"

By mixing paint with catalysts, I create active paint experiments that mimic the push-pull forces found in nature that shape and mold all things.
As a result, I paint satellite views of the earth and other places
scattered throughout the universe.

"Nature has her own mode for doing each thing,
and has somewhere old us plainly;
and if we decide to choose our own ways,
as opposed to nature's,
nature will not be slow in undeceiving us."

Ralph Waldo Emerson  -
"The Conduct of Life", 1860

This is a physical investigation of earth and paint.

"Long Island and Connecticut", 2001, 40" x 30"

A planet surface is a visual record of past events;
the same is true for a Speed Element experiment.

Actual perception came before the concept of realistic and abstract.  Now, in a sense, we have come full circle as scientists investigate how an egg develops in zero gravity.  This triad of realistic, abstract and actual perception is needed to create what I consider "Twenty-First Century Landscape Painting".

These "reactive improvisations" give me a greater understanding
of the actual, the physical dynamics of our world.
